Late Summer News – September 2021

Hello Longcroft Team,

We hope the last few weeks have not been too hectic for you all. It’s fair to say it’s been a busy month and we have excelled in offering the very best cat care across the UK.

Nice job!

September is set to be a busy month and October half is beginning to fill nicely.

The current red, green and all the colours in between travel lists continue to add some confusion to the booking process but our flexible approach continues to exceed customer expectations.

And as for the weather … apparently we are due a mini heatwave next week so hope we can all make the most of it before we find we are donning our winter hats and coats !

We have been experiencing some supply chain problems with some of our merchandise so have sourced our own stock which hopefully will arrive in 6 to 7 weeks time.

It includes most of our day to day items. Have a read through the below and do let us know what you would like to order by emailing Lucy.

Merchandise

Goody Bags £20 for 50 so about 40p each.

The ones we currently buy cost about 75p each so these are great value!

16cms x 12cms x 5.5cms –  The same size as the original Goody Bags we supply.

Catnip mice toys £20 for 40 – around 50p each

Body of mice – 5.5 cms long  x 3.2 cms wide (approx) plus tail, containing cat nip and stuffing.

We know the grey ones are a little bit of a strange shape but for 50p each we don’t mind! The cheapest ones on Zooplus are about £1.20 each!

Blankets – £5 each, 10 for £45

65cms x 48 cms

Housewife fleece pillowcase with star detail are cute and measure 75cm x 50cms

Lovely and thick!

Perfect for Christmas gifting, should fit ideally onto our Longcroft beds and into the bottom of cat carriers too!

Feather Wagglers £20.00 for 50 – around 40p each.

Exactly the same as the ones we recently posted out.

We love them!

Our guests love them!

Grooming brushes (Click on or hover over link to see brush)

Groom Professional Undercoat Rake Great for removal of undercoats in long haired breeds and breeds with lots of undercoat such as British Shorthairs. Best used alongside a slicker to remove the undercoat that you bring to the surface.

Groom Professional Matt Breakers – Matt Breaker 5 Blade Amazing for matted guests, ensures the matt is easily and painlessly removed without the need for scissors.

Replacement blades are also available.

Groom Professional Curved Soft Slicker Brushes – Medium Soft Brushes – An ideal all round brush for most pussy cats, go easy on breeds such as Burmese, Bengals and Siamese as the pins can be a little scratchy.

Groom Professional Triangular Soft Slicker – We love this for hard to reach areas particularly on long haired guests, such as armpits , tummies, trousers and necks. Its nice and thin and gets into all of those areas that can’t be reached with a regular sized slicker.

Groom Professional Rotating Tooth Comb – Great for long haired guests and for brushing bushy tails!
Nylon soft bristle brush: Great for all of our short coated crew with no undercoats!  Such as Bengals, Burmese and Siamese where a slicker is too scratchy for them. We love putting a spritz of coat shine onto the brush to apply to their coats.
And a touch of JPP finishing spray to finish.. Just 1-2 pumps into your palm, rub your hands together and give them a cheeky stroke!
It’s always worth trying this product the day before your guest is due to leave as you may find they want to lick it all off!! If they do then it’s probably worth giving it a miss because you will end up with a very licked messy looking pussy cat for checkout!!

Anigene wipes £12 a tub

ANIGENE Surface Disinfectant Wipe – Large – 200 Wipes.

For those that prefer to wipe instead of spray … we have found a combination of both works best! Not as cost effective as the spray.

Litter scoops

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333695315381?hash=item4db1ca6db5:g:u9YAAOSwAnJfPz~x

Positives

These are strong and silver with a black soft grip handle so beautifully match the light grey dustpans.

Negatives

They do scratch the bottom of the litter trays, although these are covered with litter when in use and not  seen by anyone other than you!

Scrubbing Brush to clean scratch posts, we use this handled brush with a warm solution of water and Biofilm remover in a bucket, scrub then wipe clean with a rough towel.. Repeat these steps until they are back to their original glory!   Particularly useful after Sphynx cats have stayed with you or more elderly greasy kitties.

Really good rubber gloves for hair removal

Marigold Extra Life Kitchen gloves, these are a game changer..  They are really thick and last three times the length of the normal yellow ones.

Customer communication

Send photographs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Customers know when to expect them so hopefully won’t chase you daily and you get the weekend off from customer comms!

A gentle reminder of check in time

Pop over an email the day before check in to remind your customers of their check in time. It takes 30 seconds to send and hopefully keeps them on time and your day free!
